Your Bill Explained

Don’t be surprised by the amount on your first monthly bill. Your bill includes charges from your activation date to your billing date plus the next full month in advance.

This means that you’ll see a partial charge for your plan and add-ons for the days prior to your bill date in addition to the complete monthly charge. You’ll see partial charges on your bill anytime you change plans or add-ons.

Here’s a guide on how to read your bill

Additional airtime charges happen when you use more minutes than you have in your plan. Each additional minute costs 35¢. To save on future bills, you may need to change your plan or add an add-on.

Long distance - You are charged long distance charges when you make or receive calls outside of your local calling area. Each Canadian long distance minute costs 35¢, if you don’t have one of our LD add-ons. Click here for options on how to save. Add the LD Saver to get access to our great per minute rates or choose a plan that includes enough long distance minutes to cover your needs. We also have Unlimited Canadian LD and North American LD add-ons.

Roaming – Charges of an extra $1/min apply when you make or receive calls from outside of Canada.

Data charges will apply when you use your Koodo phone to browse the web, download applications, stream videos or receive emails.

You can add a data add-on, starting from $10/month, to help manage your monthly data charges.

Messaging charges – You’ll see these charges when your text and/or picture messages exceed what’s included in your plan. Each text message costs 15¢. Add Unlimited Messaging for $5/month, to get unlimited local and international text and picture messages. Please note that premium messages are not included.

Premium messages – Premium text and picture messages are not included with your monthly plan. This applies even if you have unlimited messaging in your plan. So if you sign up to receive special messages or for text messaging contests, you will be charged by third party companies to use their service. Koodo does not endorse premium messages. It's important to always read the fine print before signing up for these contests and be aware of what you're agreeing to. If you currently subscribe to a service of this nature and wish to unsubscribe, text back "STOP" and the text messages should stop.

Starting in June 2010, a $2 charge will be applied to your monthly paper bill. Of course, you can avoid this cost by simply switching to paperless billing - and save some trees along the way!
