Within Canada
When travelling within Canada, long distance charges apply when you call people whose numbers are outside of the local calling area you are currently in, also when you receive calls while outside of your local calling area. But some exceptions apply. For more information on long distance, click here

Before you go
If you’re heading south, here are a few things you should do before crossing the border into the U.S.
- Consider your airtime – the minutes you use while in the U.S. won’t be applied to any included monthly, unlimited weekend or weeknight minutes offered with your Koodo plan. You will be charged long distance and roaming charges.
- Know how to access Voicemail – some service areas in the U.S. may not offer Voicemail notification. But you can still check your messages by calling your number from your Koodo mobile phone (1 + area code + your number). Press Star key (*) when your greeting starts, then enter your password. Just tell your friends to leave short messages because local airtime and long distance charges will apply.
- Set up your access – your mobile phone should have the latest roaming list to enhance your data roaming connection. Downloading it takes three minutes, literally. The only thing is, you have to be within the Koodo Mobile digital coverage area in Canada to do it.
To update your roaming list, follow these steps:
- Press the PWR button and the screen will display the current date and time.
- Dial *22803 followed by the SEND or TALK button.
- Choose your language preference (i.e., 1 - English or 2 - French).
- Choose Option 2 to update your roaming list.
A message will be played back to you at the end of the call letting you know if your phone was updated successfully.
If you have any difficulties during programming, call 1-866-99-KOODO from a phone other than your mobile phone and a Customer Service Rep will help you, please have your Koodo Mobile account number handy.

Messaging while roaming in U.S.: There is no additional roaming charge. Rates are the same as you were texting in Canada.
