Indigenous Tax Exemption

Are you eligible to claim tax exemption on your Koodo Mobile bill? If so, you've come to the right place! Here's everything you need to know about the process.

The purpose of the tax exemption is to allow eligible customers to receive credits for bills, because of their tax exemption status. This could include Indigenous customers with Indian status or Consular Officials/Diplomats. If you identify as an "Indian," as defined in the Indian Act, you may be eligible to claim an exemption of the GST/HST and/or PST for goods and services supplied on a reserve.

To apply for tax exemption, you'll need to follow these steps:

  1. Download and print the Koodo Tax Exemption PDF Form

  2. Fill out the PDF form

  3. Scan the completed form and the required pieces of identification. Third-party mobile scanner applications are accepted.

  4. Email the scanned documents to taxexemption@koodomobile.com

Heads up!

  • If you’re applying as a First Nations individual: You must include a photocopy of both sides of your Certificate of Indian Status Card

  • If you’re applying as a Consular Official/Diplomat: You must include a photocopy of your Identity Card issued by the Canada Department of Foreign Affairs

  • Once we receive your form, it’ll take us up to 14 days to process it. Keep in mind that you must continue to pay the full amount of your invoice, including taxes, until your application is approved. Note: The date that the tax exemption gets added to your account can't be backdated and will be effective from the date of form submission onwards.
